Beagle Bros’ tools were fantastic. They literally let you do the (allegedly) impossible, like change the names of operating system commands. And they always packed the disks full with extra stuff. Demos of their other products, and strange graphics hacks that existed for no reason other than the fact that they were cool, and because there was spare room on the disk. My response was to abandon trying to intercept at the level of individual elements and instead intercept at the level of the browser’s own property descriptors. I went straight for HTMLMediaElement.prototype with Object.getOwnPropertyDescriptor, hooking the native src and srcObject setters before any page code could run:
